Sibiu is one of the most beautiful cities in Romania, located in Transylvania. Sibiu (or Hermannstadt, as it is also known) was designated the European Cultural Capital in 2007 and it is an important university centre. In the Old Town, you will find the medieval grandeur of the historical buildings and a pedestrian-friendly area. As the city landmarks, we can name Sibiuț Towers, the Great Square, the Liars’ Bridge, the Huet Square, Brukenthal Palace or the Small Square. You can also visit the Council Tower and the Evangelical Cathedral, where you can go on the top floors and get amazing views over the city and the mountains near the city. Another place you should definitely visit is ASTRA Open Air Museum, where you can find more than 300 traditional buildings, watermills and windmills and gigantic presses for wine, fruit or oil. Beside the beauty of the city, we recommend you to visit also the surroundings: Marginimea Sibiului, well-known for the architecture, history and heritage, Paltiniș Resort, the highest and oldest tourist resort in Romania, chosen for ski opportunities and various hiking opportunities.

UAUIM continues a long tradition of local architectural higher education, the foundation of which is closely linked with the rise of modern Romania, during the second half of the 19th century.

The university offers a dynamic and friendly environment where students are encouraged to learn and think creatively, while also developing a sense of critical thinking, in order to reach their potential for employment in architectural design and urbanism.

The UAUIM operates in 3 locations:

* the main building, located on the Acedemiei street, where most of the teahching spaces al located,

*the building on the Moxa st. hosts most of the Doctoral studies activities,

*the historical building, located in Sibiu hosts, the B. of ,,Architectural Conservation and Restauration''.
